Celebrating Independence Day is something American’s have been doing for 241 years now as the declaration was signed on July 4, 1776. That is a lot of years spent celebrating our freedom and independence as a nation!

Over the years we have refined the way we honor this federal holiday by grilling out, having fun in the sun, and fireworks! We’re going to give you some fun activities, recipes, and events to use just in case you’re looking for something to jazz up your party this July.

Recipes for you BBQ

Every good party deserves some good snacks and food to accompany all of the fun! Below we have listed a couple fun recipes.

 

Firework cheese stick snack

Fireworks are a staple for the Fourth of July that’s why we’ve found this fun recipe kids and adults alike will love.

You will need strawberries, cheese sticks, blueberries, and tooth picks.

Red, white, and blue pasta salad

This pasta salad takes a little extra time than most but is totally worth it in the long run!

You will need:

  • 16 oz rotini
  • 2 gallon sized ziploc bags
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 6 oz pepperoni slices, quartered
  • 5 oz marinated artichoke hearts, chopped
  • 5 oz sliced olives
  • 5 oz garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 medium red onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • ½ of a 14 oz bottle Bernstein’s Cheese & Garlic Italian dressing (or more to taste)
  • salt & pepper to taste

Outdoor games

Who doesn’t love a good game of Dominoes and Jenga? Why not up the excitement by making them larger so you can play in your backyard! The games on the website we’ve found are family friendly and good to play all summer long.

Fireworks!

You can’t celebrate the fourth of July without fireworks. Downtown Holland puts on a really great fireworks display on the waterfront. Viewers can take blankets and chairs and line them up at Kollen Park.
