Knowing whats happening to a child’s teeth at the dentist is important.
Sealants Can Protect Teeth From Decay
A dental sealant is a clear coating that is placed on the chewing surface of a permanent back tooth. In pediatric dentistry, dental sealants are recommended because a child’s back teeth contain grooves in which sugary foods can easily become stuck, thus leading to cavities.
Sealants can protect teeth from decay for up to 10 years, but they need to be checked for chipping or wearing at regular dental check-ups.
