Sports are a great way for kids to stay active, have fun, and learn the importance of team work. But, way too many young kids suffer from dental injuries that could have prevented in the first place.
“Each year, more than 2.6 million children up to age 19 suffer sports injuries severe enough to require emergency-room treatment, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
Keep Your Child Safe and Prevent Serious Injuries
There are a number of things you can do to help keep your child from getting injured during sports. Delta Dental’s website has a great article that provides you with some great information and tips on how to keep your child safe and prevent serious injury.
Tips for safety and protection
Our number one recommendation is to have your child properly fitted for a mouth guard. A lot of big name stores will sell them on the shelf, but we recommend a mouthguard fitted in a dental office. They are custom made so they will protect your child’s gums and teeth much better.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s dental safety when it comes to sports make sure to call our office. We are happy to help!
