Teens Use of E-Cigarettes

There has been a lot of controversy over the use of electronic cigarettes. Are they better than traditional cigarettes? Are they worse for your lungs?

Something that researchers are also looking into is the use of these devices amongst high school students to see if it serves as a predictor that they will transition into smoking traditional cigarettes.

We found this article regarding the matter and their findings are quite interesting but yet not very surprising.

“The use of e-cigarettes among high school students served as a significant predictor that they would subsequently smoke traditional cigarettes, according to a study published in the January 2018 issue of Pediatrics.”

As a dental office, we discourage the use of any sort of nicotine. E-cigarettes, traditional cigarettes, or smokeless tobacco, in our opinion are posing a health risk not only to your body but to your mouth as well. Visit healthychildren.org to get more information on the matter.

On this blog there are additional links you can follow to get deeper into the issue of electronic cigarettes and the other issues they are causing for our youth.
